What Is TuneJourney?

TuneJourney is a free, browser-based internet radio platform that organises the world into Journeys — cities and regions, each marked as a pin on a 3D globe — and Tunes — the live radio stations streaming from those locations right now.

What sets it apart is an AI audio engine that runs entirely in your browser (no server, no GPU needed). It analyses every stream in real time, classifying audio into music, talk, ads, or noise. When you enable Auto-skip, TuneJourney automatically switches to the next station whenever the DJ starts talking or an ad break hits — keeping the music uninterrupted. Over time the AI builds a smart profile of your listening taste and of each station, powering better recommendations with every session.

AI Audio Intelligence

At the heart of TuneJourney is an Audio Spectrogram Transformer (AST) — a machine learning model that runs inside user browser. It recognises 527 audio classes from the AudioSet taxonomy in real time, with zero cloud round-trips.

Talk & ad detection — classifies every few seconds as Music, Talk, Mixed, or Noise / Ads.
Auto-skip chatter — when enabled, TuneJourney automatically switches to a new station the moment a DJ segment or commercial break starts.
Genre fingerprinting — detects genres across ~45 canonical labels and maps them to 52 filterable tags.
Listener taste profile — tracks which genres you actually listen to and for how long, building a personal taste map synced to your account.
Station smart profiles — the AI builds a profile for every station, so you can see what a station actually plays, not just what it claims in its metadata.

The Globe Experience

The interactive 3D globe is TuneJourney's front page. Spin it with your mouse or finger, zoom into a continent, then a country, then a city. Each pin represents a Journey — a city or region with one or more live radio stations.

Click a pin and the first station starts playing instantly. Scroll through the tune list to sample different stations, or hit Spin to let TuneJourney pick one at random — by country, continent, or the entire world. Search and filter by genre, country, bitrate, or language. The globe is the UI.

ISS Auto-Tune

One of TuneJourney's most unique features: track the International Space Station in real time on the globe. Enable ISS Auto-Tune mode and TuneJourney automatically switches to the closest radio station as the ISS orbits Earth at 28,000 km/h.

Listen to Afrobeats as the ISS passes over Lagos, then bossa nova as it crosses São Paulo, then J-pop over Tokyo — all without touching a button. A companion live video feed from a camera aboard the ISS completes the experience.

Playlists & Cross-Device Sync

TuneJourney works instantly without any account. But for listeners who want more, signing in (Google or magic-link email) unlocks:

Favorites — one-tap save for any station; synced across every device.
Custom playlists — group stations by mood, genre, or road-trip itinerary and jump between collections instantly.
Community sharing — publish a playlist to a shareable link; anyone with the link can import and listen.
Listening profile — your AI-generated taste profile travels with your account, improving recommendations on every device.

Equalizer & Audio Controls

A multi-band parametric equalizer lets you shape the sound to your headphones and taste. Choose from presets (Rock, Jazz, Bass Boost, Vocal, …) or dial in your own curve. The EQ panel is draggable and pinnable, so it stays accessible without blocking the globe.

Additional audio controls include a sleep timer (auto-stop after a set duration) and comprehensive keyboard shortcuts for power users: Space to play/pause, N/P for next/previous station, M to mute, +/− for volume, and more.

For Developers

TuneJourney offers an embeddable radio widget that any website can drop in with a single script tag. The widget supports genre and region scoping, live event callbacks, and a compact player UI.

Mobile Apps — Coming Soon
